Cirencester sustained their 100% record in Division 4 of the Swindon Indoor Cricket Association after overcoming a shaky batting performance to defeat Wanborough 2 by 2 wickets.

Captain Andy Cooper won the toss and, as expected, decided to bowl first. A vital early breakthrough occured on the last ball of the first over, as debutant James Shackleton swiftly returned the ball to bowler Dan Hudson, who ran out Woodward.

Shackleton marked his debut with a wicket as early as his second ball as Wills attempted to run the ball away to third man, only for Rich Hudson to complete a catch off of the wall. Two balls later a yorker was too good for Mills and Wanborough 2's found themselves in trouble at 15/3.

Wanborough 2's captain Ian McMurray joined Cox at the crease and they began the difficult task of building a substantial partnership. They had increased the score to 42 when a mix-up between the pair resulted in Cox being easily run out by Shackleton.

Next over a full length Tom Burgess delivery proved too quick for Male and althought the last wicket pair managed to add 10 more runs before another run out occured, Wanborough 2's were bowled for what seemed to be an inadequate 63.

Rich Hudson began the chase in style with two beautifully placed straight drives but on the last ball of the first over, Dan Hudson was caught at mid-on. McMurray picked up the prize scalp of Cooper with a well bowled yorker before Hudson and Burgess crafted a 30 run partnership.

This was ended amongst a fine spell from Cox that brought 2 wickets for 12 runs from his 3 overs. He bowled Hudson, attempting to late cut, and then had Shackleton caught at mid-on by Mills.

Any fears of a first defeat were avoided as Burgess struck Woodward back over his head for six and then Matt Carter drove the winning run through the covers.
