U13s triumph in Round 1 of County Cup [Wednesday 4 June 2003]

U13s County Cup Round 1
Cirencester U13s - 82/3
Tetbury U13s - 36 all out
Cirencester U13s won by 46 runs
Cirencester U13s started their campaign in the County Cup with an encouraging win over Tetbury on Sunday 25 May.
In what was the first game of the season for many, Cirencester's batsmen, having been put in, played responsibly with Bertie Graham playing the anchor. Scoring was slow initially against some tight fielding by Tetbury, but when Alex Gotley was joined by Sam Kemp the run rate accelerated sufficiently to allow them to reach 82 for 3 after their allotted 20 overs.
This might have been a little short for a competitive total, but when Tetbury batted wickets fell regularly with the spin bowlers Sam Kemp and Hugo Price taking 4 and 3 wickets respectively. All the batsmen struggled against good bowling and fielding and excellent catching, with only J Harrison managing to make a reasonable score.
Tetbury were all out for 36 without completing their overs. All in all it was an excellent team effort by Cirencester, who look forward their next round of the cup to be played in mid June.
