A high class bowling and fielding performance from Cirencester proved too much for an under-strength Swindon Civil Service 2 side. Captain Andy Cooper won the toss and stuck to the usual game plan of fielding first.

Cirencester were able to call upon the services of opening bowler James Shackleton for only the second time this season and a combination of him and Tom Burgess never allowed the Civil Service batsmen to settle.

The first wicket arrived in the second over as Andy Cooper pounced at cover to run out the opposition's main batsman Money. Runs were hard to come by and this pressure told as wicket-keeper Page and Hamid found themselves both at the bowler's end and an accurate throw from Shackleton effected the second breakthrough.

Cooper again swooped at cover to collect his second run out of the innings to dismiss Civil Service captain Shelley before Burgess received a well-deserved wicket as he bowled Roche. The innings was closed as a frustrated Page hit a Cooper delivery straight up on to the roof.

Cirencester reached the victory target of 35 for the loss of only one wicket as Roche tempted Dan Hudson to strike a delivery on to the roof but Rich Hudson soon hit the winning runs without any more alarms.
