Round
up of the weekend's matches
Tuesday 31 May 2005
Cirencester
First XI visited Stone while the Seconds hosted the Berkeley based club’s
second string. The Stone teams are expected to be title challengers this season
and already have some impressive victories under their belt. Both Town teams
batted first but were unable to post a really competitive total and so, after
their bowlers had little luck in their opening spells, Stone were able to
record fairly comfortable victories.
The Third XI put up a very creditable performance against Cricklade, with
a number of juniors again making useful contributions. In Sunday’s Development
Cup match the Cirencester opening pair got them off to reasonable start but
they were unable to capitalise and so did not post a big enough total to really
trouble a highly talented Frocester outfit.
Earlier in the
week a youthful Town XI really showed their mettle, bowling and fielding superbly
at Cricklade to notch the Club’s first Evening Knock-out win since 2002.
