Round
up of the weekend's matches
Tuesday 17 May 2005
The weather was far better than forecast but the weekend brought mixed fortunes for Cirencester Cricket Club.
The First XI travelled to 2004 runners-up Apperley and hit problems on an unfamiliarly fast track. At the Park, the Second XI maintained their 100% record against Cheltenham Allsorts while a very inexperienced Third XI played Malmesbury 3rds and had a marvellous win.
On Sunday, the Club played
its first ever match in the Gloucestershire Development Cup at Malmesbury.
The hosts posted 191 in their 45 overs with James Denyer (3-29) and James
Constable (2-24) the pick of the bowlers. An opening stand of 80 runs in good
time by Ed Alderman (21) and Rich Hudson (66) looked to have set Cirencester
on track for victory but a middle order batting collapse meant that they fell
short by 52 runs.
