Message from Richard Graham, 1st XI captain [Tuesday 2 September 2003]

Thanks to some inspired batting from Andy Cooper, with dogged support from veterans Johns Turton and Turner, and other contributions with bat, ball or in the field from all the first team, you'll all be delighted that Cirencester Cricket Club will not be relegated this season - and in fact finishes in the respectable position of 6th out of 10 in Division 2 of the Gloucestershire County Cricket League (NB The 2nd XI finished in 5th place in their league).

Many thanks to all in the Club, including many behind the scenes, who have made this possible. Having the hands on encouragement of the management, a well run bar, a pavilion in better condition and a wicket that is the envy of cricketers all round the county has all added to the feel good factor that lies behind every success story.

As a finale to the season it's been exciting, and I think everyone in the team has enjoyed their cricket, and everyone has made a significant contributed to a more successful season. Several new players have made their debut and most have come from the seconds. This is very encouraging - and I will draw on this theme, and pull together other strands of thought, in a brief spiel at the AGM on Monday 15 September.

Looking forward to seeing you there

Richard
