Cirencester XI drew with Ploughmans XI

Cirencester entertained their annual visitors on a stunning afternoon at Cirencester Park. Brian Woodcock lost the toss and was surprised to be invited to bat on a good track. Throughout the Cirencester innings runs and wickets came and fell regularly. Every batsman chipped in with some runs, but no player pushed on to make a big score. Lobo at the top of the innings and Dukes at the end made the best scores, whilst the pick of the bowling was Wilden with 4-40 off 8 overs, and Davies with 2-14. Cirencester declared at tea on 176-9 off 38 overs.

The Ploughmans innings started steadily, with tight bowling from West Indian Marlon Blagrove and Rich Hudson. Two wickets fell with the score on 29 and a third went down soon after. With 20 overs remaining at 18:15 it left the Ploughmen needing 127 from 20 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Ridgeway kept them in the hunt with 61, before being bowled by Andy Reynolds. After this the innings petered away with Reynolds taking a superb catch at extra cover. Overall the fielding was excellent, and to cap the game off Brian Woodcock took his second wicket in a week. Ploughmans ended the game 26 runs short with 2 wickets in hand.

Cirencester look forward to the return next season, as a good time was had by all.
