Cirencester slip into relegation trouble [Monday 16 December 2002]
Cirencester finished the first half of their maiden Indoor League season facing a relegation battle after losing their third straight league match yesterday afternoon.
Civil Service 2 and Cirencester were level on points before the start of play and despite a pacy opening spell from Andy Reynolds, the Civil Service 2 opening batsmen raced along before having to retire.
Andy Lobo and Dan Hudson combined to run out Townsend for 3 before Hudson ran out Hamid (21). Cirencester claimed two more wickets in the last over as Hudson bowled Harris (19) with his first ball before Page could only hit the next ball onto the roof.
Cirencester's reply received an early set back as Reynolds was out after hitting the spinner Townsend onto the roof, who promptly dropped dangerman Andy Cooper the next ball.
Cooper's reprieve was shortlived as a mix-up with Andy Walker resulted in him being run out for 7. Chris Harris then gained revenge on Hudson as he bowled him for a duck to leave Cirencester with an uphill task.
Good innings' from Andy Walker, Andy Lobo and Simon Rowe kept Cirencester in with a chance. Unfortuanately Rowe was run out leaving Cirencester forty runs short.
