U11s defeated despite impressive Breen spell [Tuesday 10 June 2003]

Cotswold District Cricket Association Junior League
Fairford U11s - 76/7
Cirencester U11s - 61/8
Fairford U11s won by 15 runs

Veteran of the U11 scene Jack Harris led his team out for the first time this season against a vibrant Fairford batting line up. Newcomers, Archie Judd and Ben Field opened the bowling and one wicket fell during their spells. Then, Eliot Binns baffled the batting with some elegant spin bowling. Pick of the bowlers, though, was Billy Breen with figures of three overs, three maidens for three wickets. In the field, William Trim excelled as wicketkeeper with two stumpings. Fairford scored 76 runs (7 wickets).

Batting, Thomas Groombridge and Peter Berry put together a tidy partnership to force up the run rate, and in a rain interrupted innings Jack Harris was thwarted by some accurate Fairford bowling leaving Cirencester short with 61 runs scored (8 wickets), thus giving Fairford their first win of the summer.
