Colts second best to Poulton [Thursday 27 June 2002]

Cirencester Colts lost their second successive Evening League game last night, as they lost by four wickets away at Poulton. Captain Andy Reynolds won the toss and chose to bat and saw opening batsman Dan Robbins take the attack to the Poulton bowlers. None of the other Colts batsmen could follow Robbins' lead and at the interval Cirencester had posted an under-par score of 100 off their 15 8-ball overs.

A steady opening spell from Graham Clarke and an inspired four overs from John Turner appeared to give the Colts the initiative and as the last over came into sight, Poulton required another twelve runs for victory. A full toss first ball was smashed high over square leg for six before Jeff Perrott picked up two wickets in his next five balls. With three needed off two balls, Mark Wright advanced down the wicket to hit a matchwinning boundary.
