[Scorecard]
Cirencester came out second best as they faced a strong Bayshill team on Thursday evening. Bayshill captain Horner won the toss and decided to bat first and then led from the front as he collected a well-worked 50 after opening the batting.
Cirencester gained an early breakthrough when Horner called fellow opener Robert Burford through for a quick single only for Cirencester captain Iain Butler to throw down the stumps at the non-striker's end to run out Burford.
Horner and new batsman Emery proceeded to put together an important partnership compromising of plenty of threes due to good placement into the gaps square of the wicket. After Horner retired with his personal score at 25, left-hander Saunders tried to up the tempo and take advantage of anything wide of off stump.
Dan Hudson's last over saw a yorker clean bowl Saunders before Tom Burgess took a good catch off the wall to dismiss new batsman Smith. Bayshill's wicket-keeper Liley employed alternative appoaches to engineer scoring opportunities but he managed to gather 17 unbeaten runs although he was involved in the run outs of Emery and Horner.
Cirencester were left to chase a testing target of 134 and looked as though they might have a chance of getting there as Dan and Rich Hudson again ran aggressively between the wickets to gain 14 runs from Burford's opening over. Saunders then saw his first over go for 16 as Dan Hudson struck him straight for a four and two sixes.
With the score at 38 after three overs Cirencester were looking well placed but Dan Hudson clipped Saunders' first delivery of his second over off his legs to Horner who took a good low catch.
This dismissal led to a two low scoring overs that meant Cirencester were falling behind the required run rate. Knowing that something had to give, Dan Robbins attempted a quick run only to see Emery pounce at backward point to run him out.
Alex Harris fell to Saunders swiftly followed with the unfortuanate run out of Burgess to all but give Bayshill victory. Although last pair Rich Hudson and Butler constructed a stubborn last-wicket partnership, Bayshill ran out comfortable winners.
